The third edition of the Open Government Awards in the Region of Murcia has highlighted efforts to bring administrations closer to citizens through projects that prioritize transparency and inter-institutional collaboration. Recognizing local initiatives demonstrates how digitalization and access to public information facilitate citizen participation, narrowing the gap between bureaucracy and society. This event is significant for the open data community because it validates the use of open data as key tools for promoting accountability and ethics in public management. By rewarding transparency and cooperation among different levels of government and academia, it strengthens the ecosystem needed to make data accessible, useful, and transformative, thereby fostering a more modern, responsible, and citizen-centered administration.
