Kenya is working on rules for artificial intelligence (AI) with two projects in Parliament. Some people think this could slow down Kenyans' use of AI, while others say rules are needed to stop misuse. Kenya is already using AI for data analysis, design, and entertainment. It is doing well in East Africa for AI because of its technology and available data. This shows that open data is important for new ideas and technology.

Theft in stores has gone up in Los Angeles and Dallas in 2022 and 2023, says a report from the Council on Criminal Justice. But in the same time, theft has gone down in San Francisco and Seattle. The value of stolen things has gone up, maybe because of prices going up. Serious thefts that are crimes have almost doubled since the start of the pandemic. There has also been more violent thefts. People at the state and national level are trying to stop theft. They need good and up-to-date information to do this.

Weekly indicators can show us how the economy is doing before we get monthly or quarterly data. But some indicators, like interest rates and credit, are not good. Housing indicators, like mortgage applications and loans, are also not good. Money and corporate profits are going down. Credit and short indicators are mixed. Indicators like the St. Louis FRED Weekly Economic Index and restaurant bookings are good. Spending and transport indicators are mixed, which might mean the economy is weak.

These things show that open data and being able to see what is happening are important. We need good and true information to make good choices and laws. As women who have raised kids and want a better world for them, we need to know what is happening and ask for open data. If we help with this, we can make a smarter and stronger society.
