Paraguay has experienced a significant expansion in Internet access between 2017 and 2023, reflecting a clear trend toward digital connectivity across the country. This growth, however, is not uniform, as important gaps persist between urban and rural areas, as well as among groups with different educational levels. Metropolitan areas and populations with higher educational attainment lead the figures, while rural regions and sectors with lower schooling levels show lower rates, albeit with notable progress compared to previous years. The user demographics reveal that young people are the main drivers of this digital transformation, using the Internet almost exclusively. Contrary to what might be expected, women have a slight advantage in Internet access and usage over men. However, the reasons for use differ by gender: men tend to prefer entertainment and financial content, while women prioritize searching for information on health and services. The mobile device has emerged as the primary means of access, far surpassing fixed home connections. This publication is relevant to open data because the National Institute of Statistics provides indicators disaggregated by age, gender, location, and educational level. By publishing these data in a structured and periodic manner, it facilitates precise sociodemographic analysis and the identification of digital inequalities. Transparency in this information enables researchers, policymakers, and citizens to design effective interventions to close the digital divide, ensuring that technological progress benefits the entire population equitably.
