OPDA launches homemover survey to gauge digital data awareness

The OPDA survey, conducted by 30 member firms including Atom Bank and Inventory Base, aims to gather feedback from homebuyers and sellers on the current homebuying process, digital property information, and data sharing comfort levels. The survey seeks to improve the homebuying experience, which currently takes an average of 22 weeks due to reliance on paperwork, duplication, and manual checks. OPDA has successfully reduced this timeframe to 15 days by implementing its data standards for digital property packs. The survey also highlights the need for digitized property data at the source, including information from the Land Registry, planning permissions, building safety, and local searches. The results will be used to create a white paper, which OPDA plans to present to the government and other stakeholders later in the year. The survey deadline is set for 30 September. In addition, Halifax Intermediaries has introduced the Green Living Reward, offering up to £2,000 cashback for energy-efficient home improvements. Maria Harris, OPDA chair, emphasizes the importance of understanding consumer perspectives on the homebuying experience and encourages industry members to share the survey link with their customers. The goal is to generate a comprehensive consumer voice and drive improvements in the homebuying process.
