Pentagon Unveils New Advana Platform at Industry Day
The Department of Defense (DoD) Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO) hosted the Advana Industry Day, a one-day event that brought together industry and government to learn about the DoD s next steps in advancing Advana, the DoD s largest enterprise data system. Advana, which stands for advancing analytics, provides data from over 400 DoD business systems, along with tools, services, and analytics to support data-driven decision making across the DoD. The event focused on the recompete of Advana, a move that aims to drive interoperability, increase vendor competition, and infuse best-of-breed industry solutions into the Advana ecosystem. This change is expected to help the platform scale and meet a broader and more varied population of users and needs. Dr. Radha Plumb, CDAO, emphasized the significance of the Advana Industry Day as an opportunity for industry to participate in the largest acquisition of digital and AI enabling capabilities in the history of the DoD. The event featured plenary/educational sessions, focused breakout meetings, and networking opportunities, allowing government and industry leaders to discuss the Advana platform s continuous improvement. Industry Day speakers highlighted Advana s origin, its relationship to the Open DAGIR approach to scaling data, analytics, and AI capabilities, and ways for traditional and nontraditional contractors to participate in ongoing Advana development activities. The Advana Industry Day is part of a series of Industry Days offered by the CDAO to strengthen partnerships and enhance understanding of the DoD s technology needs. The event followed the recent GIDE Industry Insights Forum and is the second of such Industry Days the CDAO has offered this year. The CDAO, established in June 2022, is dedicated to integrating and optimizing AI capabilities across the DoD. The office is responsible for accelerating the DoD s adoption of data, analytics, and AI, enabling the Department s digital infrastructure and policy adoption to deliver scalable AI-driven solutions for enterprise and joint use cases, saf
