Reelectionist Iloilo solon to push amendments to Revised Penal Code

Reelectionist Representative Lorenz Noy Defensor of the third district in Iloilo City plans to push for amendments to the Revised Penal Code during his potential third and final term in office. Defensor filed his Certificate of Candidacy for the May elections on October 4, expressing the need to update and consolidate criminal laws. As a lawyer, he aims to address the longstanding issue of unchanged criminal laws. Defensor has been the principal author of several proposed bills, including the creation of a Department of Water Resources, open data access to the National Telecommunications Commission, an agriculture information system, inclusion of the Philippine Constitution in the senior high school curriculum, exemption of income tax for military uniform personnel, and the establishment of the Philippine Children s Medical Center for the Visayas. In addition to these national significance measures, Defensor has assured that he will propose more bills with local significance during his tenure.
