El enorme lío de las imágenes 'creadas' por robots: derechos de autor, falsedad, manipulación…
The article illustrates the current challenge of distinguishing reality from virtuality through the use of false identities generated by artificial intelligence, as evidenced by the case of manipulative accounts on social media. Experts warn that the growing sophistication of these tools, capable of creating hyperrealistic images, complicates the verification of authenticity and increases the public’s vulnerability to informational manipulation. From the perspective of open data, the underlying problem is that these systems are fed by vast, uncurated web datasets, which perpetuate existing social and gender biases. This reliance on open but potentially biased sources raises a fundamental critique regarding algorithmic transparency: as technology advances, the lack of clarity in training processes turns these models into “black boxes,” making ethical auditing and the identification of structural discriminations embedded in predictive patterns difficult. The relevance to the data community lies in the urgent need to regulate the specific use of these technologies rather than prohibit them, mandating transparency and mandatory labeling of AI-generated content. It is emphasized that governance must prioritize human accountability and external auditing to ensure that technological development does not conflict with human dignity, guaranteeing that solutions benefit society as a whole and not just privileged groups.
