Así buscarán garantizar derecho a información con extinción del INAI

President Claudia Sheinbaum’s initiative proposes transferring the functions of the National Institute for Access to Information and Personal Data Protection (INAI) to the Anti-Corruption and Good Governance Secretariat. Although the agency will lose its constitutional autonomy, it is guaranteed that transparency mechanisms and citizens’ right to information will remain intact, being integrated into an existing structure to optimize the use of public resources. The new approach goes beyond the traditional corrective function by adopting a preventive and cross-cutting strategy. By combining transparency with the fight against corruption, the Secretariat seeks to promote integrity across all government departments. This includes modernizing public procurement, dignifying public service, and implementing a more transparent acquisition system, ensuring that government actions are monitorable and fair. This reform is significant for the open data movement because it explicitly links transparency with proactive digitalization. Collaboration with the Digital Transformation Agency aims to generate large volumes of easily accessible data, enabling citizens and the private sector to actively monitor government performance. In this way, transparency becomes a fundamental tool for accountability and informed social participation.
