Más de 100 expertos reclaman que los datos de simulación molecular sean accesibles y reutilizables
Experts from the IRB Barcelona are calling for molecular simulation data to comply with the FAIR principles, ensuring their accessibility, interoperability, and reusability. This initiative aims to create an open ecosystem that avoids current fragmentation and unnecessary duplication, promoting a sustainable model similar to the historical success of traditional biological databases. The lack of common standards hinders reproducibility and slows the development of artificial intelligence, a sector highly dependent on large volumes of dynamic data for training. By reusing previously generated information, the community can extract valuable insights to identify new therapeutic targets and design innovative experiments, thereby optimizing research resources. This approach is crucial for open data because it democratizes access to scientific information, accelerating medical and pharmacological discovery. By adopting federated infrastructures and standardized metadata, molecular simulation is integrated into current workflows, ensuring that generated knowledge is not lost and amplifying its global impact on structural biology.
