ARMH: "Exigimos la creación de un organismo que atienda, escuche y cuide a las familias y que deje de utilizar subvenciones cuando tiene el deber de garantizar derechos" - Tercera Información
The Association for the Recovery of Historical Memory (ARMH) has denounced the State’s opacity regarding the Exhumation Plan. The administration refused to provide data on DNA identifications, citing technical difficulties in compiling the information, which reveals a lack of adequate oversight and poor management of publicly funded resources for recovering those disappeared under Francoist repression. This situation is critical for the principles of open data, as the government hides basic statistics behind bureaucratic pretexts, obstructing transparency and genuine access to public information. The refusal to provide accessible data violates citizens’ right to know the outcomes of democratic memory policies, underscoring the importance of ensuring that state data are public, verifiable, and easily processable. The core issue lies in the State’s prioritization of the number of exhumations over the identification of victims, often without the consent or participation of their families. The ARMH calls for a model centered on family demand, similar to those applied in other countries, where initiatives originate from those affected rather than from a government agenda disconnected from their actual needs.
