Access to public information in Mexico remains undemocratized, as the current model prioritizes closed formats such as videos or physical documents that artificial intelligence cannot process. This technological gap excludes the majority of the population, which relies on AI tools to consume data, while the State maintains an outdated and elitist approach. The lack of open databases in machine-readable formats prevents technology from fulfilling its promise of instant and universal transparency. The quality of generated information is another critical obstacle, because without rigorous standards from the outset, the results provided by artificial intelligence tend to be imprecise or erroneous. This deterioration undermines citizen trust and diminishes the relevance of the traditional formal request model, which loses ground in the face of rapid but unreliable responses. Insufficient promotion and oversight of information quality render transparency a right more accessible in theory than in everyday practice. This case is relevant to the open data movement because it illustrates how merely publishing information does not guarantee its social utility. Without interoperable, high-quality data structures, transparency efforts remain disconnected from modern access tools. Transparency must evolve toward technical standards that enable automatic reading, ensuring that information not only exists but is also accessible, verifiable, and useful for all of society.
