Residents of the State of Mexico feel safer, INEGI reports in quarterly survey
Perceptions of insecurity decreased significantly in the eight municipalities of the State of Mexico evaluated by the INEGI survey. Tlalnepantla showed the greatest improvement, followed by Nezahualcóyotl and Naucalpan, while all analyzed municipalities recorded reductions in their indices. At the national level, the indicator reached its lowest level since 2013. This favorable scenario is attributed to the state government’s security strategy, which prioritizes coordination among the three levels of government to combat violence and address citizens’ needs. This report is relevant for open data because it demonstrates how government indicators can measure the real impact of public policies. Transparency in these data facilitates social scrutiny and objective evaluation of state management, reinforcing accountability based on quantifiable and accessible evidence.
