Public Data: Transparency, Privacy Risks, and the Cost of Secrecy
Public information has both good and bad sides. It helps people understand how their government works. When records are easy to find, citizens can check if leaders are telling the truth. They can also watch how the economy changes.
For example, Malaysia shares its job market numbers. This lets people see unemployment rates and judge if new laws work. It makes the government more open and responsible [1].
